Kristaps Porzingis Sparks Fresh Intrigue With Unexpected Appearance Amid Growing Uncertainty Over His Warriors Future

Kristaps Porzingis has been away from the Golden State Warriors facility, yet he turned up in Marbella, Spain. A local dentist, Bruno Pereira, posted an Instagram photo with the Latvian center. The timing is awkward for Golden State, which has opened 1-3 without him and is planning as if he will not return. Porzingis sat out camp and the whole preseason while dealing with POTS. He has not played a regular-season game. The team has said it does not expect him around in the immediate future. One photo has now put his name back in the headlines.

What Did Kristaps Porzingis Do In Marbella?

Kristaps Porzingis appears to have made a dental stop. Pereira shared the photo with a short caption, “Always a pleasure to treat a champion.” Nothing in the post points to basketball. Still, the image landed at a sensitive time for the Latvian big man, who has said little publicly since the Warriors announced he would be out for an unknown stretch. He did post one statement of his own, saying he was working with doctors “to be fully back to good health.”

The latest reporting sits oddly beside the photo. ESPN's Anthony Slater wrote on Wednesday that the Warriors no longer describe him as out with an illness. He is just not with the team. Sources told Slater the club expected him to keep working with the medical staff after an early-October meeting with Mike Dunleavy and Rick Celebrini. He has not been back to the facility since.

Can The Warriors Trade Porzingis Or Void His Deal?

A trade is the cleaner exit, but the market is cold. Golden State is exploring options, though a deal this early looks unlikely for a 31-year-old with no return date. The ESPN report points to another path. Slater's sources say his absence from the building could be viewed as a failure to render services, a point raised inside the organization, and could be used to try to void the whole contract.

The $40 million center signed a two-year extension in the offseason. He is due $20 million this season, and only $3 million of next year's money is guaranteed. ESPN's Shams Charania has also reported he has considered retirement.

On the floor, the cost is easy to see. Draymond Green, listed at 6-foot-6, started at center on opening night. Two-way big Graham Ike has also started, though his contract caps him at 50 games. Charles Bassey, 25, adds depth. The Warriors' front office has instructed Steve Kerr to proceed as though Porzingis is no longer part of the plans. Green is 36 and Al Horford is 40, so minutes need careful handling.
