Few Autobots are as beloved as Transformers’ Bumblebee, and now the fan-favorite hero is officially getting his own solo series in winter 2027, taking him on a dangerous new adventure across the galaxy. Much about the series remains under wraps, but we have the official synopsis, release date, and first-look images.

Starting January 27, 2027, a new, self-contained era for Bumblebee begins with Transformers: Bumblebee – Lost Planet. The title has been announced as part of Skybound Visions, a line of standalone comics from Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics. Like the other titles in the “Visions” line, Bumblebee – Lost Planet will tell a standalone story separate from other continuities.

The series doesn't have an official issue count yet, but a star-studded creative team has been revealed, which will be a major draw. Eisner- and GLAAD Award-nominated writer Tate Brombal teams up with fan-favorite comics artist Matt Emmons and colorist Giovanna Niro to bring Lost Planet to life. Alongside the creative team announcement, Image Comics has also revealed a first look at the cover art and an official synopsis for the first issue.

The official synopsis for Lost Planet #1 teases that the series will revolve around Bumblebee’s fight for survival on an uncharted planet following a devastating Decepticon attack. While this story isn’t part of Image Comics’ main Transformers continuity, the stakes remain exceptionally high, with two key teases revealing that Bee will be actively hunted and that this will be the biggest mission of his life. Below, readers can find the full synopsis:

After a devastating Decepticon attack, Bumblebee is stranded on an uncharted planet. Lost in the galaxy, with no way to call for help, the so-called "weakest of all the Autobots" must tackle the biggest mission of his young life.

But beneath its surface, this strange planet holds a secret that’s already begun to corrupt and change its indigenous life. Now, the Autobots’ greatest hope must come from the transformation of its most unexpected warrior... if Bee can survive being hunted by the deadliest Decepticon of all!

Beyond revealing Matt Emmons and Giovanna Niro’s main cover for the issue, the preview for Lost Planet #1 also showcases variant covers by Luke Preece, Ladrönn, Juni Ba, Tom Whalen, and Arist Deyn. All of them can be seen in order in the gallery below.

Among the variant covers, Luke Preece’s and Juni Ba’s stand out. Preece’s cover has an emotional pull, featuring what appears to be a fallen Autobot reclaimed by the planet’s foliage, while Ba’s stands out for his instantly recognizable and exceptionally unique art style.

This is only a taste of what’s to come, but it will undoubtedly be more than enough to get Transformers fans pumped for what promises to be an incredible, high-action Bumblebee story.

Transformers: Bumblebee – Lost Planet #1 from Image Comics will be available to read on January 27, 2027!
