Ben Brosofsky has been writing for Screen Rant since 2022 and editing since 2024. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor's in Cinema & Media Arts. Writing serves as a much-needed distraction from tackling a backlog of Steam games that will never be surmounted.

The Legend of Zelda franchise has stacked up plenty of iconic games over the years, and a new collection is set to celebrate entries from across the course of the series. The original The Legend of Zelda launched in 1986, making this the 40th anniversary of the IP and lending an extra dose of excitement to all the new releases coming this year.

While North American audiences didn't get a peek at this new release in the September 2026 The Legend of Zelda Direct, the European broadcast included a little extra. A brief screen showed a box called The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection from Italian brand Panini, known for its collectible trading cards along with plenty of other entertainment products.

The official Panini UK & Ireland X account shared a better look at the image displayed in the Nintendo Direct, which shows off a Master Collection box, four trading cards, and an album to store collected cards in. The post simply notes that the Master Collection boasts "visuals from The Legend of Zelda series" and asks fans to "stay tuned" for more details.

To date, this message and similar ones from across Panini social media appear to be the only direct communication about the set, so many questions about what exactly to expect remain unconfirmed. Nonetheless, it's possible to glean a fair bit of information from the image alone. Based on the art represented on the box and cards, the following games should be represented in the set:

• The Legend of Zelda
• The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
• The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
• The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
• The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
• The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
• The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
• The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
• The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (remake)
• The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
• The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

It's quite possible that other games, like the various handheld titles not represented here, will be included in the overall lineup. Without official confirmation from Panini, however, these eleven are the only ones that can be directly confirmed. A variety of sites have reported that "every game" from the franchise will be represented, but without any clear reference to a press release or direct information from Panini, this claim seems difficult to verify (to say nothing of figuring out what "every game" would even mean).

Either way, 11 games is already a lot, and the confirmed lineup represents nearly every major console entry, with the possible exception of Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. The Legend of Zelda: Master Collection might not have the same level of widespread appeal as a collectible card game based on The Legend of Zelda could, but even standard trading cards will doubtless be attractive to plenty of fans of the Zelda franchise.
