‘Sesame Street’ Movie Set at Netflix, Plus ‘Gabby’s Dollhouse’ Spinoff and ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Game

After kids and family content brought Netflix 15% of its viewership in the first half of 2026, the streamer is doubling down on its children’s slate.

Netflix announced several family-oriented projects on Thursday, beginning with “Sesame Street,” which it began streaming last year. A new “Sesame Street” film is in development, produced by Sesame Workshop and Netflix film chairman Dan Lin’s company Rideback. The flagship series has been renewed through Season 62, with Volume 4 of Season 57 set to begin streaming on Nov. 23, followed by Volymes 5 and 6 next year. Spinoff series “Mecha Builders,” originally released in 2022, will land on Netflix on Oct. 26.

Netflix is also expanding some of its own children’s IP. Popular preschool series “Gabby’s Dollhouse” is getting a spinoff called “Doozie’s Doghouse,” which follows Gabby’s sister. Premiering on Nov. 9, the project is described as a “mixed-media companion series” featuring imaginative animal-themed play. Unscripted spinoff “Gabby’s Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers” will debut on Dec. 9 with four holiday-themed episodes followed by additional episodes next year. Hosted by Laila Lockhart Kraner as Gabby, multiple duos will complete baking and crafting challenges judged by Aidy Bryant, Justin Willman and Melissa Villaseñor.

A new preschool series called “Puppy Pirates” has also been greenlit. Created by Matthew Fernandez, the series follows “four heroic hounds who sail the high seas fetching whatever’s been lost — treasure, stuffies, you name it.” And “Bad Dinosaurs,” created by Joel Veitch, Alex Mallinson and David Shute has been renewed for seasons 2 and 3.

Netflix Playground, the company’s kids gaming arm, will release “KPop Demon Hunters: Ready, Set Shine” on Sept. 29. Counting game “Numberblocks: Hide and Seek” will also debut that day, followed by a “Trash Truck” game on Oct. 27.
