Melaka polls: Different party colours, one breakfast table

Translate

ALOR GAJAH: Supporters of Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Bersama put their political differences aside to share a breakfast stall today.

They gathered ahead of the nomination process for the Machap Jaya state seat at Kompleks Japerun Machap Jaya.

Supporters began arriving in the area as early as 7.30am, with some stopping for breakfast at a nearby stall before gathering outside the nomination centre.

PH supporters in red, BN supporters in blue and Bersama supporters in yellow were seen at the stall, alongside PN supporters who also took the opportunity to have breakfast before the nomination process began.

The atmosphere was enlivened by a convoy of vehicles flying yellow flags in support of Bersama.

BN secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon was also present alongside the party's candidate, Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem, who is seeking to defend the seat.

The Machap Jaya state seat is expected to see a three-cornered contest in the 16th Melaka state election, with the incumbent facing challengers from PH and Bersama.

Ngwe will be challenged by former Machap Jaya assemblyman Datuk Ginie Lim Siew Lin (PH) and former special officer to the chief minister Prasanth Kumar Brakasam (Bersama).
