Stop The Lies!” – Oscar Sudi Fires Back At Gachagua Over KSh 1.5 Trillion Ruto-Chivayo Claims
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has rubbished claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that the late Zimbabwean tycoon Wicknell Chivayo died holding KSh 1.5 trillion belonging to President William Ruto.
Gachagua made the explosive allegations while addressing clergy in Boston, USA, on October 4. He claimed that because he was Ruto’s deputy, he knew that Chivayo was being used to launder and keep money for the President.
“There was a crook from Zimbabwe called Chivayo. Because I was his deputy, I know they were doing business together, and he is a man he has been using for money laundering. He gets money in dollars, that man comes with a plane, lands in a private airstrip and takes the money to keep for him,” Gachagua claimed.
He further alleged that Chivayo was holding over KSh 1.5 trillion – equivalent to over $11 billion – at the time his helicopter crashed in Marondera, east of Harare, killing him, his wife Lucy Muteke and four others on Wednesday last week. Gachagua also claimed without evidence that Chivayo was to be a local agent for a South Korean company in a plot to influence Kenya’s 2027 election.
Responding on Sunday, October 5, Sudi dismissed Gachagua’s remarks as propaganda and lies aimed at seeking sympathy while families mourn.
Sudi, a close ally of President Ruto, accused Gachagua of crossing the line and disrespecting the dead. He told Gachagua to stop spreading falsehoods and allow leaders and families to mourn in peace.
Chivayo was known to be close to Ruto, frequently visiting State House Nairobi and attending the President’s daughter Charlene’s wedding in Kilgoris. Ruto mourned him as a friend.
