2 workers dangle more than 30 storeys up after Jardine House gondola fault

Firefighters raced to rescue two workers left dangling on safety harnesses more than 30 storeys above ground outside a skyscraper in Hong Kong’s Central district on Monday evening after their suspended working platform apparently malfunctioned and dropped.
The incident occurred at about 6.16pm at Jardine House on Connaught Road Central, where the two workers were carrying out external maintenance work from a gondola. One of the workers was left dangling for nearly 1½ hours before being rescued around 7.40pm.
The suspended platform was suspected to have developed a fault and dropped, leaving the pair, who were wearing safety harnesses, dangling between the 30th and 40th floors.
