Watch: BBC presenter battles strong winds as storm hits Newquay

Translate

Power cuts are affecting more than 9,000 homes in Cornwall and Devon as Storm Austen hits parts of the UK.

A red warning is in place for Guernsey and Jersey, while Cornwall and parts of Devon are under an amber weather warning for strong winds. A yellow rain warning is also in place in parts of Scotland, including the Lothian Borders.

The storm is expected to affect millions more this morning as a yellow warning kicks in across the South East and North West of England, the East Midlands and Wales.

BBC lead weather presenter Simon King is in Newquay as the "full force" of the storm arrives.
