Major spoilers ahead for Silo season 3 and Hugh Howey's Silo books.In terms of both narrative structure and storytelling, Apple TV's Silo has significantly drifted away from its source material. Up till season 2's ending, Silo closely followed Hugh Howey's original books, albeit with more political developments. Silo season 2's ending moments also roughly aligned with that of the first book, Wool, from the original trilogy.

With season 3, however, the show avoids treading the same path as the books. Unlike the second book, Shift, which primarily unfolds in the past, Silo season 3 goes back and forth between the past and the present. Owing to this, the show introduces many story beats in the present timeline that do not exist in the books at all.

Towards Silo season 3's ending moments, Juliette decides to wage a war against Silo 1 to ensure the freedom of the people living in silos. Meanwhile, Troy/Daniel is reminded of his past and relationship with Helen.

Considering all the original developments in the Apple TV sci-fi show, one cannot be too sure what will happen in the series next. However, some key spoilers for season 4 could still be foreseen based on the story in the book.

The Biggest Rebellion In Silo History Brews In Silo 18

As Silo season 4's trailer has revealed, Paul Billings will finally wake up and use the Silo-wide broadcast network to reveal the truth to all residents. He will disclose that they are not alone, and they accommodate one among the many silos out there. This will prompt the people to prepare for the war ahead.

The trailer also suggests that Knox and the crew will attempt to make their way to Silo 1 through the digger void door. However, blasting the door will cause flooding in Silo 18, which will hold them back from executing their plan.

In the meantime, Daniel's sister, Charlotte, will lead a drone attack on Silo 18 and even send cryptic messages that say things like "RIP," "Deep Regret," and "When you see Grover, you know it's over." After season 3's events, Camille, too, will actively help Juliette instead of listening to the Algorithm and blindly following orders from Silo 1.

The Past & The Present Clash When Daniel Meets Juliette

Another intriguing scene from the trailer shows Juliette and Daniel's first face-to-face encounter. Daniel shows up in what seems to be the tunnel under Silo 18. When Juliette asks him who he is, he claims to not know his identity. This development aligns with season 3's ending. Victor's message seemingly prompted Daniel to recall his past.

However, after being given the memory-erasing drug for a very long time, he will probably struggle to remember his real identity and history before the silos.

Since Daniel was never an antagonist and was only tricked into accommodating the Silo 1, it makes sense that he eventually escapes and sets out to meet Juliette. Even in the books, Daniel's counterpart, Donald, starts recovering his lost memories and attempts to use his place and power in Silo 1 to help Juliette and her people.

Helen's Early Years As The First Flamekeeper In Silo 18 Will Be Explored

In the books, Helen ends up in Silo 2 after the apocalypse instead of Silo 18. The fact that the show's version of the character gets sent to Silo 18 suggests that her origin story will be tied to past rebellions. It has already been established that the Pez dispenser relic was given to Helen by Daniel when they first met one another.

The forbidden relic eventually helped Juliette regain her lost memories in season 3. Considering how Silo has been subtly tying the present timeline to Helen, season 4 will likely explore her early days from Silo 18. It also seems likely that she will be portrayed as the first Flamekeeper from Silo 18 who triggered the very first rebellion and sparked the early resistance against Silo 1.

The Truth About The Apocalypse & The Silos' Construction Will Be Revealed

Silo season 3 has already established that the "founders" had ulterior motives when they first started the Silo Project. Stensen claims that the silos were built to protect and sustain humanity after a potential apocalypse. However, season 3's past timeline shows that a nuclear blast near Georgia forced people to rush to the silos.

In the books, Stensen's radicalization starts to come true when unchecked human bioengineering, industrial pollution, and nano-weapon testing harm some of the most resilient sea animals, like blue whales. As a result, he realizes that human innovation has gone too far. When the threat from nanobots continues to grow, Stensen starts the Silo Project (dubbed the CAD-FAC in the books).

Like the show, a nuclear bomb explodes near Atlanta in the books' story, forcing many people to accommodate the silos. They are expected to stay in the bunker for the next 500 years and wait for the world to heal. However, a twist later discloses that the real reason behind the apocalypse was self-replicating nanobots, which, as Stensen predicted, were being used by terrorists and hostile nations as biological weapons.

The nuke attack around Atlanta was orchestrated by Thurman to force people in the area to go and live in the silos. While the rest of the world perished, the "founders" waited for the bad nanobots to be eliminated before they could have humanity repopulate the planet again.

Silo 1 Will Fall & The Survivors Will Be Lead By Juliette To The "Seed"

It is eventually revealed in the books that the founders never wanted all the survivors from all the silos to repopulate Earth. A specific algorithm was designed to determine which one silo among the 50 had the best people to successfully rebuild civilization without dooming humanity again. As seen in the show, even a Safeguard was installed in all silos, which would release bad nanobots in them and kill all their residents.

When Donald (Daniel) realizes how cruel the Silo Project's ultimate motive really is, he attempts to save them all. While Juliette moves her people to Silo 17 through the tunnels, Donald gets imprisoned by Thurman in Silo 1 for going against the "founders."

In the final arc, Thurman triggers the Safeguard in Silo 18, which kills many innocents. Ultimately, only around 200 people end up surviving the incident. Donald takes it upon himself to trigger Silo 1's self-demolition after helping his sister, Charlotte, and her lover leave.

Juliette learns that the drill in their silo could have been used to reach a safe zone on Earth called "The Seed." However, due to lack of fuel, she and her people are forced to walk to the region with hazmat suits on. As they make their way to "The Seed," they learn that the planet has long healed and only the silos were surrounded by a cloud of "dust" containing bad nanobots that would kill anyone who left.

This marks the end of the Silo books' story where Juliette, her people, and Charlotte from Silo 1 safely reach "The Seed" before setting out to rebuild civilization.
