KOTA BHARU, Sept 13 — Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad led the funeral prayers for medical officer, the late Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, 33, at Al Karomah Mosque in Mukim Baung Besar, Pengkalan Chepa, here at 1.37 pm today.

The prayers were attended by over 1,000 congregants, including Ministry of Health (MOH) secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, Kelantan State Health director Dr Kasuadi Hussin, as well as the deceased’s family members and friends.

The deceased’s father, Kamarudin Salleh, 69, said he and his family had granted permission for Dr Dzulkefly to lead the funeral prayers as a mark of respect.

“I wish to express my gratitude to the Health Minister and the public—including relatives and friends—for their constant prayers and for keeping my late daughter in their thoughts,” he said.

Earlier, a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) special aircraft carrying Dr Ainul Baraah’s remains from Miri, Sarawak, arrived at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Pengkalan Chepa, at 11.21 am.

The crash on Tuesday claimed the lives of all five individuals on board the BO-105 helicopter operated by Layang-Layang Aerospace after it crashed near the end of the Long Lellang STOLport runway at approximately 3.40 pm.

In addition to Dr Ainul Baraah, the other victims were Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, 30; medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry, 31; and two nurses, Jessie Paya Jok, 44, and Debra Moset, 40. — Bernama
