MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan said on Saturday that he hoped more senators would join the 14-member Senate majority.

Asked in a DWIZ interview if more senators would join the majority following Sen. Mark Villar’s transfer, Pangilinan replied, “Well, I hope so.”

The Senate minority, led by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, now has 10 members.

Pangilinan added that “the real SB is SB19,” a play on the name of a Filipino pop group and the Senate’s “solid bloc.”

“We’ll see if it actually turns into SB19 — you know?” he said.

Pangilinan did not rule out the possibility of Sen. Loren Legarda joining the majority.

He said Legarda was once part of the original “solid bloc.”

“They’re the original five, right? That’s where she really came from. So, we’ll see,” he said when asked about Legarda’s possible change in alignment in the Senate.

Legarda remains on medical leave after filing a sixth request for an extension of her leave to seek treatment for a “serious” lung-related illness. /das
