4 Chinese nationals charged with kidnapping compatriot in Kedah

Three men and a woman from China pleaded not guilty in the sessions court here today to kidnapping a compatriot last month.
Huang Jian, 39; Wang Hao Yu, 33; Guan Siqi, 24; and Liu Tingjun, 46, entered their pleas after the charge was read out to them in Mandarin before judge N Priscilla Hemamalini.
The four, together with another person who was charged separately, are accused of kidnapping Xiong Xi Qiao, 33, with the intention of secretly and wrongfully confining her at a house in Taman Amira, Jalan Langgar, here at about 8.40pm on Aug 7.
They were charged under Section 365 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34 of the same law, which provides for a maximum seven years’ imprisonment and a fine, upon conviction.
The court denied them bail and set Oct 11 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Nasruna Anhar Nordien appeared for the prosecution while Guan was represented by lawyer S Suresh. The other three were represented by lawyer Jodia Poh.
