DC kills off Lobo and replaces him with a team of strangely similar characters. The cigar-chomping interstellar Czarnian bounty hunter Lobo famously parodies the dark and edgy antiheroes of 1990s superhero comics, but he also holds a spot among the most durable characters in the DC Universe. Both Heaven and Hell officially banned Lobo's soul from entry due to the endless chaos he caused during prior deaths, so his consciousness is sent back to the mortal plane every single time he dies. Besides, his Czarnian physiology gives him hyper-accelerated regeneration that repairs the most lethal of physical damage, including total vaporization.

Lobo's long-awaited live-action debut finally took place in Supergirl, where Jason Momoa delivered his natural rugged charisma and imposing physical presence to accurately portray the iconic Czarnian. Although his appearance in the movie is unexpectedly brief, Momoa steals every frame. This brief introduction seems to have built a strong foundation for Lobo's future in James Gunn’s DCU, potentially setting up future interactions with David Corenswet's Superman and the DCU's Justice League.

Surprisingly, DC kills off Lobo only a few months after his big-screen debut, though whether his death is permanent remains to be seen.

Lobo Dies And Is Replaced By A Team Of Ex-Lobos

The Ex-Lobos assemble in Lobo #8

The Main Man has survived every attack known to a Czarnian by this point, but in Lobo #8, the former Mauve Lantern Francis Dalex delivers the final blow in revenge for all the suffering and disappointment Lobo has caused in his life. A beaten-up Lobo welcomes death, saying, "finally!", and Dalex kills him off screen. One year later, Lobo's decomposing body lies on the floor, and it's discovered by a new group of bounty hunters, the "Ex-Lobos," all of whom bear a striking resemblance to the fallen Czarnian.

The Ex-Lobos feature a hulking cybernetic Lobo, a female bounty hunter with a human-like appearance, a color-flipped Lobo with white hair and a red sweater, a small kid-like Lobo, a Black Lobo with dreads, and none other than a New 52 Lobo, who declares that the original "Lobo is dead." Standing above the original Main Man's rotting corpse, this new group promise to carry on his legacy in their own way, possibly replacing him for a long time.
