‘Dune’ Movies Returning to Imax Theaters With ‘Dune 3’ Sneak Peek

Translate

Both of Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” movies will re-released in Imax theaters next month with an exclusive sneak peek at December’s “Dune: Part 3.” A double feature of both movies will hit Imax theaters on Nov. 13 only, with additional showtimes of each blockbuster film from Nov. 14-18.

“Dune: Part 3” releases in theaters on Dec. 18 and is the long-awaited finale to Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi trilogy, starring Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem and more A-listers. The new movie introduces Robert Pattinson as Scytale, shape-shifting villain who attempts to kill and overthrow Chalamet’s space emperor Paul Atreides. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, the son of star Jason Momoa, and Ida Brooke will play Leto II Atreides and Ghanima Atreides, the twin children of Paul Atreides and Zendaya’s Chani. After appearing in a cameo in “Part 2,” Anya Taylor-Joy will return to play Alia Atreides, the younger sister of Paul. “Part 3” jumps ahead 20 years as Paul has conquered most of the universe and faces new threats.

The first “Dune” movie, released in 2021, was nominated for 10 Oscars and went on to win six, including original score, sound, editing, cinematography, production design and visual effects. It was also up for best picture and adapted screenplay. The 2024 sequel won Oscars for best sound and visual effects out of its five nominations, which again included best picture. Both of the movies have been major box office hits for Warner Bros. and Legendary, with the first movie making $411 million worldwide and “Part 2” growing to $715 million.
