The fifth season of the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) will begin on November 30, 2026 - at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Naranpura, Ahmedabad, with 10 teams competing for the title.

The month-long competition will feature leading Indian and international players, with Ahmedabad becoming the latest city to host the league as part of its efforts to expand professional volleyball across the country.

Since its launch in 2022, the PVL has moved to a different host city each season to attract new audiences and increase the sport’s reach.

Ahmedabad’s selection comes as the city prepares to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and continues to develop its sporting infrastructure.

The upcoming season will feature Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Delhi Toofans, Goa Guardians, Kochi Blue Spikers, Kolkata Thunderbolts, Mumbai Meteors and Telugu Black Hawks.

The announcement follows the recognition of the PVL by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) as India’s first-division professional volleyball league earlier this year.

Indian men’s volleyball has also made progress internationally, with the national team climbing from World No. 60 to No. 42 in the FIVB rankings following its performances in international competitions.

PVL CEO Joy Bhattacharjya said the decision to stage the fifth season in Ahmedabad was part of the league’s plan to take professional volleyball to different parts of the country and develop a wider audience.

Ahmedabad Defenders owner Pravin Chaudhari welcomed the opportunity to host the competition, pointing to the city’s preparations for major international sporting events and its growing infrastructure.

Tuhin Mishra, managing director and co-founder of Baseline Ventures and director of the PVL, said the league would continue to focus on strengthening the professional volleyball structure, creating opportunities for Indian players and expanding the sport’s reach.
