Their names have reportedly appeared on an online list warning others about the recruitment network, as investigators probe how the scheme operated against the backdrop of deepening military ties between South Africa and Russia.

The programme investigates some of the first confirmed African casualties linked to what is described as a ruthless recruitment operation.
