South Africa and Australia will face off in a marquee three-match Test series beginning on October 9 with crucial World Test Championship points at stake.

The series is a rematch of the last World Test Championship final, which South Africa won by five wickets at Lord’s.

It also marks the first time Australia has returned to South Africa for a Test series since the infamous ‘Sandpaper-gate’ where it was caught attempting to apply sandpaper to the ball to generate reverse swing.

In the fallout from the series, then-captain and vice-captain Steve Smith and David Warner were given suspensions and banned from leadership, while Cameron Bancroft was also sanctioned.
