ECRL cuts Gombak-Kuantan journey to 85 minutes

Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) has marked a fresh milestone by holding two board committee meetings aboard the ECRL comprehensive inspection train (CIT) during a round trip between the Gombak station in Selangor and KotaSAS station in Pahang.
MRL said yesterday the finance and technical committee as well as the board audit, risk and governance committee met on Tuesday to assess the journey and the project's progress under actual operating conditions.
The other positive development was speed consistency, it said.
The journey from Gombak to KotaSAS and back took about 85 minutes each way.
This demonstrated encouraging progress in the ECRL's testing and readiness phase, it said.
"Board members were able to observe and experience the ECRL's performance first-hand while carrying out their responsibilities...," said MRL chief executive officer Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak.
This, he added, was important as the project was at the critical juncture transitioning from construction to operations.
"This is not only about speed or travel time. It is about ensuring that the entire system is safe, reliable and ready to serve the people."
