A body has been found in the search for a missing 17-year-old boy who was last seen on Monday afternoon in a suburb of Glasgow.

Teenager Kristijonas Demcenko was last seen at 2.30pm on Monday in Milngavie, at the junction between Mugdock Road and Douglas Street.

He was caught on CCTV walking in the direction of Mugdock Road car park, wearing a black jacket, black jeans and black trainers with white soles. He was also carrying a black bag with him.

A frantic search was launched after he was reported missing that same day, but the efforts of authorities came to a tragic end on Friday.

A body was found in Mugdock Country Park, north of Milngavie, yesterday - four days after the teen went missing.

Although formal identification is still to take place, Kristijonas' family have been made aware of the discovery.

Residents in Milngavie were also asked to check garden sheds or outbuildings in case the teen had sought shelter there.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: 'On Friday, October 16, we received a report of the body of a man having been found in the Mugdock Country Park area of Milngavie.

'Formal identification is yet to take place however, the family of 17-year-old Kristijonas Demcenko, who had been reported missing from Glasgow, have been made aware.

'The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.'
