SNL Releases “Amazing Tales of Truth” Sketch in Full After Second Half Cut for Time

Translate

Saturday Night Live has finally shared the full version of “Amazing Tales of Truth,” more than 48 hours after the first half aired on last weekend’s episode and quickly took on a cult-like status. The second half was cut for time, and the sketch was not uploaded to YouTube in the immediate aftermath of the episode, as is customary for SNL sketches.

Jon Schneider of LateNighter has an excellent breakdown of “Amazing Tales,” which was written by Carl Tart and Andrew Dismukes, styled in the vein of The Twilight Zone, and built around a scenario that challenges the “very core of what we believe” or so we’d led to think.

The sketch apparently went off without a hitch during dress rehearsal, but when it came time for the live show, only the first portion aired as intended. When SNL then failed to upload the full sketch, including the unseen second half, it took on its own mythological status among diehard fans. But now, the sketch has been revealed in full.
