LUCENA CITY — Police seized an unlicensed firearm and several rounds of ammunition from a motorcycle rider intercepted at a checkpoint in Lopez, Quezon, on Friday, Oct. 30.

The rider failed to present the required licenses and permits for the firearm and ammunition, according to police.
He was taken into police custody and is facing criminal charges, including violations of firearms laws. Authorities also impounded his motorcycle.
The arrest came as police forces across Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon were placed on full alert starting Thursday to ensure public safety during this year’s observance of Undas, which includes All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1 and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2.
As part of the heightened security measures, police activated checkpoints along major thoroughfares across the region. /mcm
