India ended its Asian Games 2026 campaign in Aichi-Nagoya with 85 medals, including 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze, to finish fourth in the continental standings.
The overall haul was lower than the record 106 medals won at Hangzhou in 2023, but the overarching storyline in Japan was one of new champions and historic firsts
India won gold across nine sports, with archery accounting for five titles, while cricket, hockey and kabaddi contributed four team gold medals between them. Shooting produced three gold, athletics one, boxing three, wrestling two and golf one.
Only eight of India’s 28 golds from Hangzhou were retained, while 13 new routes to the top of the podium emerged in Japan.
Here are all of India’s 21 gold-medal winners at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Athletics
Women’s 4x400m relay
India’s lone athletics gold came in the women’s 4x400m relay. Kiran Pahal, M.R. Poovamma, Prachi Choudhary and Vithya Ramraj combined to take the title.
The gold provided a rare bright spot for an Indian athletics contingent that had collected 29 medals, including six gold, at Hangzhou.
Shooting
10m air pistol mixed team
Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh opened India’s gold account in shooting by winning the mixed team 10m air pistol title.
Neeru Dhanda — women’s trap
Neeru Dhanda produced one of the defining individual performances of India’s Games. Her women’s trap gold ended India’s 48-year wait for an individual Asian Games trap title, the previous one having come through Randhir Singh in 1978.

Kabaddi

The Indian women’s team reclaimed the Asian Games title. The men’s team also finished on top, giving India a kabaddi double in Aichi-Nagoya. The two titles made kabaddi one of India’s four gold-producing team sports alongside cricket and hockey.
Hockey

The women’s hockey team ended a 44-year wait for Asian Games gold. The men’s team retained its crown, beating Malaysia in the final. It became India’s first successful men’s hockey title defence at the Asian Games and, like the women’s triumph, secured Olympic qualification for Los Angeles 2028.
Cricket
India men’s and women’s cricket team
India won the women’s T20 cricket gold, adding an Asian Games title to its growing list of achievements in the format. The men’s team completed a cricket double by winning the men’s T20 title.

Women’s compound team
The women’s compound trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi won India’s first archery gold of the Games.

Chikitha Taniparthi doubled up with Sahil Jadhav to win the mixed compound team title.
Men’s compound team
Sahil Jadhav completed a second team gold, alongside Kushal Dalal and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru, in the men’s compound team event.
Women’s recurve team
Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Anil Mohod delivered a historic victory in the women’s recurve team event. It was India’s first Asian Games gold in the event and ended South Korea’s 28-year hold on the title.
Women’s individual recurve
Kumkum then produced one of the biggest individual breakthroughs of the Games, winning India’s first-ever Asian Games gold in the women’s individual recurve event.
