Philippines moves to address climate-related loss, damage

Translate

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is advancing a strategic and coordinated response to climate-related loss and damage through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Climate Change Commission and the United Nations Development Program.

The initiative aims to build a coordinated national framework and long-term action agenda for communities facing the growing impacts of climate change.

“The country is working to translate international momentum into concrete actions that help communities address the compounding and cascading climate impacts,” DENR chief Juan Miguel Cuna said.

“The Philippines is developing a national Climate-related Loss and Damage Framework and Strategy that will guide how government, development partners and other stakeholders work together to support communities affected by climate impacts. The strategy seeks to strengthen coordination, improve access to financing, enhance knowledge and data systems, and ensure that assistance reaches those most affected,” Cuna said.
