KRG The Don Dares Winnie Odinga as Nairobi Senate Race Heats Up
Musician and businessman KRG The Don has declared his readiness to face East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Winnie Odinga in the race for the Nairobi senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.
KRG, who had previously announced his interest in the seat, reacted on Friday, October 16, 2026, after Winnie declared her intention to contest the position currently held by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
In a social media post, the musician appeared to challenge Winnie and other aspirants to prepare for the contest rather than engage in political rhetoric.
“Wakuje wote wenye Nairobi ndio kusema sio kelele zao,” KRG stated.
His remarks signal his willingness to compete against other candidates seeking to represent Nairobi County in the Senate.
KRG’s Nairobi Senate Ambitions
KRG announced his interest in the Nairobi senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 polls, joining a growing list of public figures seeking elective positions in the capital.
In February 2026, the musician sent a message to his potential rivals, urging them to prepare for a competitive race. He argued that Nairobi voters needed a different approach to leadership.
He also challenged aspirants to be financially prepared to run their campaigns, insisting that candidates should not rely on political parties or friends to bankroll their bids.
KRG later joined Mike Sonko’s National Economic Development Party (NEDP) as he continued positioning himself for the Senate contest.
His latest remarks come as Winnie’s entry into the race draws fresh attention to the battle for the seat.
Winnie Odinga Explains Why She Wants the Seat
Winnie recently announced that she would contest the Nairobi senatorial position, saying she saw an opportunity as Sifuna pursued higher political office.
“As Edwin Sifuna searches for higher offices, I see there is a space in Nairobi, and that is why I have decided I will vie for Senator of Nairobi County,” Winnie said.
The EALA MP also urged young people to join her in seeking elective positions, stressing that she would not pursue her political ambition alone.
Her declaration introduces another prominent contender into the Nairobi Senate race, setting the stage for a contest involving politicians and public figures seeking to represent the county.
