One iconic 67-year-old franchise that is a masterclass in combining science fiction, horror, and psychological thriller has officially returned. Even more importantly, the franchise is staying true to its classic roots and continuing its series-defining original format. The best part, though, is that its latest release is completely bingeable.
Yes, it’s true: The Twilight Zone has once again returned. And no, we aren’t talking about the Jordan Peele-hosted 2019–2020 revival, nor the 2002–2003 UPN revival, or even the generally well-respected 1985–1989 revival. In fact, we are talking about a return that has largely flown under the radar, to the extent that even die-hard fans of the franchise may have missed it, which is tragic considering that this specific revival may be The Twilight Zone’s best since the original (1959–1964), Rod Serling-hosted series.
One of the main reasons that this revival has largely flown under the radar is the fact that, rather than The Twilight Zone returning to the silver screen, the revival took place across the pages of IDW Publishing’s still-ongoing comic series. So far, the series has ten issues, with two more confirmed for later this year; The Twilight Zone #11 is next, releasing October 21, 2026. However, September brought a major release: a collection of five tales in one bingeable format.

IDW Publishing’s The Twilight Zone: Stories from the Fifth Dimension TP was released on September 1, 2026, and collects The Twilight Zone #1-5 all in a single, oversized, 128-page volume. As previously mentioned, IDW Publishing has stuck to the anthology format that defined the original show and its various revivals. Thus, this feels like a true return to The Twilight Zone’s greatest era.
Some OG fans may hesitate to jump into this stellar revival, since it takes place in the pages of comics rather than unfolding on a TV screen. However, they shouldn’t let this change in medium perturb them, given that IDW Publishing has gone to great pains to capture the same enthralling magic that the TV series has produced, with IDW Publishing even releasing an official statement that reassures fans: “Each issue is a new tale in the vein of the iconic original television series that’s captivated audiences for over 60 years. And like the show, these stories will be revealed in terrifying black and white!”
The fact that this series takes place in black and white is a true marker of its authenticity. Furthermore, the anthology format of each issue is brought to life by a different creative team featuring some of the best and biggest names in comics today. This makes each story feel distinctive while also casting a wide net across the types of stories told during this run so far, making it far more likely fans will find at least one they absolutely love.
Featuring stories by Dan Watters (Batman: Dark Patterns, Shredder) & Morgan Beem (The Author Immortal, Swamp Thing: Twin Branches), Tom Scioli (Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre, Fantastic Four: Grand Design), James Stokoe (Godzilla in Hell, Orphan and the Five Beasts), Nate Powell (the March trilogy, Swallow Me Whole), and L. Marlow & Francesco Francavilla (Batman: The Black Mirror, Afterlife with Archie).
When diving into the individual stories featured in the trade paperback, fans can expect each to be 22 pages, with each story acting as a “spiritual sixth season of the original show.” Among the tales featured in this collection, fans can expect tales about anything from billionaires to scientists to families to knights and more, all taking place across varying settings, including island paradises, bitter battlefields, and the farthest reaches of outer space.
