Maraga Launches 3-Week U.S. Campaign Tour
Former Chief Justice David Maraga has announced plans to embark on a three-week tour of the United States to engage the Kenyan diaspora as part of his 2027 presidential campaign under the United Green Movement (UGM) banner.
The campaign tour, scheduled to run from September 17 to October 5, 2026, will take the UGM presidential flag bearer across nine major locations, including Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, Georgia, Houston, and Dallas. In a communiqué released on Monday, Maraga emphasized that the 2010 Constitution recognizes Kenyans in the diaspora as equal stakeholders in the nation’s governance rather than merely a source of financial remittances, which currently exceed KSh 380 billion annually from the U.S. alone.
During his stop in New York, the former Chief Justice is also expected to hold bilateral engagements with international leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). His leadership team—led by campaign executive director Mkawasi Mcharo and communications coordinator David Makali—positioned the international outreach as a continuation of his earlier 43-county Ukatiba Caravan tour across Kenya. Maraga reiterated his commitment to building a political platform anchored on judicial integrity, constitutionalism, and responsive leadership.
