"I'm not in the next one": The Gentlemen star appears to confirm he's not returning for next season

The Gentlemen returned for a second season last month, and fans will be glad to know that a follow-up has already been confirmed. However, it looks like one of the main cast members won't be a part of it.
Speaking to HATC Magazine, Daniel Ings said that we won't be seeing him as Freddy Horniman in the future, with the actor noting: "I'm not in the next one. So that's a fun sense of closure."
"I kind of see it as closure for the character in a way; it just ends as this wild, broken, crazy, you know. I don't know, probably mumbling into the ether somewhere in the British countryside."

Freddy's most iconic moment to date (which is probably the most lasting moment of the crime drama itself) is the chicken scene from the very first episode.
With the reveal that Ings has left the popular Netflix series, the publication asked if he got to keep the chicken suit. He shared that his wish was granted, though only for a short period of time.
"I asked for it on my very last day, and they said yes", he recalled. "I took it home with me, and about a week later, they called and said, 'Oh my God, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have given you that.'"
"And you know, it means that when it gets to Halloween every year, I'm very resentful because I don't have a standard costume that I can whip out. But in fairness, it did take up quite a lot of space in the wardrobe," he quipped.

Reflecting on his time playing the character, Ings added: "It was a lot of fun. Really, it was a great experience. I'll always be grateful to have played a part in creating that character. I absolutely loved playing Freddy."
He stated that series creator Guy Ritchie sat him down at the start of the second season and told him that they "went too far with the humour". He was asked to "tone it down", something that the actor found "really interesting to kind of thread that needle".
The Gentlemen can be streamed on Netflix. A third season has been confirmed.
