Terrorists kill 12 in Adamawa attack

Barely two weeks after terrorists killed more than 10 people in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, the state witnessed another attack on Monday, with 12 people reportedly killed in Nzangula village in Gombi Local Government Area.

A resident of the community, who spoke to The PUNCH on condition of anonymity, said Boko Haram members invaded the village in the early hours of Monday, shooting residents and setting houses ablaze.

“For now, 11 dead bodies have been recovered, while hundreds are still missing. The search team and security men are in the forest searching for the missing people,” he said.

Another resident said his wife and two other family members were among those killed in the attack.

“My wife and two of my family members were also killed during the early morning invasion of my village,” he said.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Gombi Local Government Area, Markus Ishaya, said 12 people were killed in Nzangula village, in Guyaku Ward of the council area.

Speaking to The PUNCH on the telephone, he said two other victims were injured and receiving treatment at the Cottage Hospital, Gombi.

He said, “Report from Nzangula village of Guyaku Ward in Gombi LGA stated that 12 people were killed, two were injured and are presently receiving treatment at Cottage Hospital in Gombi.

“One lady was abducted; EYN Church was burnt alongside three houses, while two shops were vandalised.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, did not answer calls or respond to messages sent to him to confirm the incident.
