Serie A | Fiorentina 1-1 Napoli: Honours even as deflected Jimenez shot cancels out Gilmour opener

Napoli dropped points at the Franchi in a game that could have finished 4-4, De Gea and Milinkovic-Savic producing a save apiece every few minutes and the woodwork intervening three times inside half an hour.
Fiorentina were the better side in the opening twenty minutes. Arthur Atta lost his balance as he struck and clipped the crossbar from close range on 17 minutes, and two minutes later Nicolo Fagioli’s effort from 25 yards was pushed onto the post by Milinkovic-Savic. Napoli answered immediately: Matteo Politano’s cross found Mathias Olivera, whose diving header hit the upright before De Gea tipped the Uruguayan’s follow-up over.
From the resulting corner, the visitors led. Politano delivered from the left and Billy Gilmour arrived unmarked to guide a volley into the bottom corner, his first Serie A goal since September 2025 and the product of a training-ground routine, the players going to Allegri’s assistant Marco Landucci afterwards to credit him for it.

Jimenez levels for Fiorentina against Napoli within six minutes of the restart
Fiorentina had chances to equalise before the break. Franco Mastantuono flicked a header wide from Mateo Pellegrino’s cross, while at the other end Noa Lang fired over twice in the closing stages of a first half Napoli ended narrowly on top on expected goals.
The equaliser arrived on 51 minutes and owed plenty to fortune. Alex Jimenez collected possession just outside the box after Cher Ndour’s pass, and his shot deflected off Rafa Marin and past a stranded Milinkovic-Savic.
That sparked the hosts. Mastantuono dragged an effort wide, then squared for Fagioli, who somehow curled wide from a good position. Substitute Victor Valdepenas forced a superb save from Milinkovic-Savic on the hour after Alieu Njie’s break down the right.
Allegri responded with a double change, Lorenzo Lucca and David Neres replacing Rasmus Hojlund and Lang, and the last 20 minutes belonged to De Gea. The Spaniard denied Neres from six yards on 76 minutes, then tipped over a thumping Favasuli header three minutes later after more good work from Neres. He was booked for time-wasting in the 83rd.
