‘Sesame Street’ Movie in the Works at Netflix

The air is about to get sweet(er): A Sesame Street film is in the works as part of Netflix’s continued preschool push.

The Sesame Street movie, currently in development, hails from Rideback and Sesame Workshop. In addition, Netflix‘s Sesame Street series deal has been extended through season 62. More season 57 episodes are set to premiere on Nov. 23, about one month after the Sesame Street CGI spinoff Mecha Builders launches on Oct. 26.

Some more cat-tastic news: Netflix has spun off Gabby’s Dollhouse with new series Doozie’s Doghouse — in storyline, Doozie is Gabby’s little sister. Gabby likes cats, and Doozie (Celestina Harris) is for the dogs. Doozie was first teased in 2025’s Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie. The character officially debuted in season 14 of Gabby’s Dollhouse.

Doozie’s Doghouse will debut on Netflix on Nov. 9 (watch the trailer, exclusive to THR, here). From the same universe, there will also be a set of Gabby‘s holiday baking specials, Gabby’s Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers. The series of four episodes will be hosted by “Gabby” herself, Laila Lockhart Kraner. More Gabby’s Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers episodes will follow in 2027, Netflix said on Thursday.

The coming Netflix preschool slate also includes Puppy Pirates, which follows “four heroic hounds sail the high seas fetching whatever’s been lost,” per its logline, as well as new games from the worlds of KPop Demon Hunters, Trash Truck, Numberblocks and Danny Go!

More seasons of Bad Dinosaurs are also on the way.

And here’s a cool and thoughtful way to entertain children with unique needs: Netflix just launched a “low-stimulation collection” — shows and movies with slower pacing, softer visuals, and simple, predictable stories — including low-stim content from the worlds of Trash Truck, Puffin Rock and Llama Llama.

The little ones are big business for Netflix: kids and family viewing represented 15 percent of Netflix’s total view hours in the first half of 2026, the streamer said on Thursday. Other standout preschool series on Netflix include Ms. Rachel, Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs and The Creature Cases.

“We’re curating a slate of favorite-worthy series, films, and games to serve kids at every age and stage of their development. Whether that’s spending more time with Gabby and her adorable sister Doozie, meeting the crew of Puppy Pirates for the first time, or growing up alongside more Sesame Street, we’re building a place parents can feel good about,” said Heather Tilert, Netflix’s vice president of Animation Series, Kids + Preschool. “A place filled with great stories, beloved characters, and enriching games kids will want to come back to again and again.”
