Cappy Halloween! Six-month-old Bru gets into the spooky spirit at Edinburgh Zoo

A six-month-old capybara has been snapped getting into the Halloween spirit at Edinburgh Zoo.

Bru was the first capybara to be born in Scotland in 18 years and is set to experience the spooky season for the first time.

The young rodent enjoyed a super natural trick-or-treat experience with pumpkins, squash, carrots and bamboo leaves.

Bru's mother Luna and father Rodney were spotted nibbling on the pumpkin, as their young pup watched on.

The public chose the youngster's name, inspired by the fact that newborn capybara pups weigh between 1.5 and 2.5kg, roughly the same as a six-pack of Irn-Bru.

Bru now weighs more than 36 cans and is heavier than a multipack of the popular Scottish soda.

Speaking after the pup's landmark birth earlier this year, keeper Jonny Appleyard said: 'We are so proud of Luna and Rodney, they're already doing an incredible job of looking after their new baby.

'They are such a beautiful species and the babies are especially adorable!

'The baby is slowly starting to get braver and explore so you may well catch a glimpse of them, closely followed by mum.

'Capybara pups grow up quickly so we recommend visiting the zoo soon if you want to see the new arrival at their cutest stage.'
