Yellow Level 2 warning: Damaging winds threaten two provinces

A Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging winds is in place across parts of the Northern Cape and North West.

Damaging winds could cause localised damage to formal and informal settlements, as well as temporary structures.

Yellow Level 1 warning issued for rough seas

The South African Weather Service said a Yellow Level 1 warning covers the area between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas.

Strong winds and waves could make navigation difficult and put small vessels at risk of capsizing.

Cut-off low to bring unsettled weather

A cut-off low pressure system developing west of the country is expected to affect the Western and Northern Cape from Sunday into Monday, 13–14 September 2026.

The system could bring intermittent showers and thundershowers, with heavy downpours at times. Some areas could also experience large amounts of small hail and lightning.

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly over high-lying areas, while windy conditions could affect coastal and interior areas.

Very rough seas could also develop, with wave heights reaching 4.0 to 4.5 metres south of Table Bay.
