Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld is one of fantasy's most distinctive and enduring IPs, a sprawling universe that has grown across more than 40 novels and countless unforgettable characters. What began as a sharp parody of traditional fantasy gradually became something far more ambitious, using the absurdity of a world balanced on the backs of four elephants standing atop a giant turtle to explore everything from politics and religion to technology, mortality, and human nature.
Pratchett’s wit, warmth, and unmistakable voice helped Discworld build a devoted global following, while characters like Death, Rincewind, Granny Weatherwax, and Sam Vimes have become icons in their own right. More than a decade after Pratchett's death, the series continues to inspire adaptations, collectibles, and new ways for fans to return to Ankh-Morpork and beyond.
This November, Discworld is expanding once again with a brand-new release that offers another way to experience Pratchett's beloved world.

Discworld is returning to the tabletop this November with Readers Digested, a new board game that sends players directly into one of Sir Terry Pratchett's most memorable locations: the Unseen University Library. The premise takes place during Reading Week, when frantic students have descended upon the Library to prepare for their exams, only for its books to escape their shelves and begin causing the sort of chaos one would expect from Discworld.
Players become Assistant Librarians tasked with restoring some semblance of order before things get even further out of hand, moving between locations throughout the Library, collecting Book Cards to return runaway books to their proper places. Those same cards can also be spent to perform additional actions, including improving a player's collection, traveling more efficiently through the mysterious L-Space, rescuing students more quickly, or summoning members of the Unseen University faculty. Faculty can provide bananas, which in turn can be offered to the Librarian in exchange for his assistance.
Players can complete Section Tiles independently or cooperate with others to earn additional cards and bananas while rescuing stranded students. Once enough students have been gathered, they need to be escorted to the exit. Victory goes to the first Assistant Librarian to successfully usher enough students out of the Library and earn the Librarian's favor.
It is a premise that fits Discworld particularly well, turning Pratchett's famously chaotic magical institution into a light competition.

The $80 Deluxe Edition includes both basic and deluxe rulebooks, with the latter incorporating four expansions and Quantum Solo Rules, alongside 14 expansion cards, 25 double-sided Section Tiles, 80 Book Cards, four illustrated player figures, 40 player markers, and 55 deluxe cardboard tokens representing students and bananas. There is also a triple-layered Exam Hall board and standees for Ridcully, the Dean, and the Senior Wrangler. Customers who secured the game during its pre-order period will additionally receive a bonus Section Tile.
Those pre-orders are currently closed on Modiphius' store, unfortunately, with the Deluxe Edition listed as sold out and out of stock. Any Discworld fans who already placed an order should see the release moving toward fulfillment soon, although Modiphius specifically says shipping is expected to begin at the end of November 2026, meaning actual delivery could extend beyond November depending on location. For everyone who missed the initial window, the listing currently offers an option to be notified if the game becomes available again.
