Brad Pitt reprises Oscar-winning role in first full trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth

Netflix has finally released a full-length trailer for David Fincher's upcoming sequel to Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – which sees Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth follows the titular stuntman in 1977, eight years after the explosive climax to the earlier movie, with Tarantino having once again penned the script.

And the trailer gives us a good idea of what to expect as Cliff adjusts to a radically different Hollywood climate from the one depicted in the previous film – where he is now firmly out of place.

"Did you hear the story about Bruce Lee getting his ass kicked by a stuntman?" we hear a voice say at the beginning, referring to a memorable scene from Once Upon a Time... "This is the guy."

We then find that he is now working behind the snacks counter at a cinema, although it soon becomes clear that this is by no means his only way of earning his keep.

Indeed, he seems to be involved in all sorts of underground activities – from overseeing wrestling matches to what appear to be some very shady dealings.

Meanwhile, the trailer includes appearances for various high profile cast additions – including Elizabeth Debicki – and even a reference to Leonardo DiCaprio's character Rick Dalton from the first film.

Alongside the trailer, Netflix has also released a far more detailed synopsis which teases that "the fairytale is over" and gives us an even better idea of precisely what Cliff's misadventures entail.

"Los Angeles no longer needs a hippie-slaying stuntman the way it did," it reads. "But Hollywood will always have problems, problems that can only be solved by someone with Cliff’s unique (occasionally extralegal) abilities.

"When he’s not earning his keep bartending or as a projectionist, Cliff Booth is a fixer – solving situations for Hollywood’s great and, sometimes, not so good."

The synopsis continues that the film will see Cliff get a call from talent agent Karen Crosby (Elizabeth Debicki), on behalf of her client, a TV megastar named Charlie Peters (Scott Caan) who is known for doing his own stunts.

"[Cliff is] further entertained and intrigued when he meets other characters in Charlie’s world, from his knowing wife Toni (Carla Gugino) to pro football champion turned screen star Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).

"Then there are the Verdusco brothers (Matt Groove and JB Tadena), mysterious gangsters causing mayhem across the city. What was once a fairytale is now a crime story – a cocktail of violence, ambition, and desire that could only happen in LA."

Tarantino previously explained why he chose not to return to the director's chair for the sequel, revealing that he didn't want to make the film his final work.

The director has long stated he only intends to helm 10 films and, counting Kill Bill Parts 1 and 2 as one movie, that means he has currently completed nine.

He said on The Church of Tarantino podcast: "I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked. It just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again. I’ve got to be in uncharted territory."

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will get an exclusive two-week run on IMAX screens from 25 November.
