Police chief denies tagging suspect in student’s killing as ‘prominent personality’ in Batangas

LUCENA CITY — San Jose, Batangas police chief Maj. Florencio Caisip Jr. denied reports attributing to him a description of one of the suspects in the killing of a 22-year-old working student as a prominent personality in the province.

The victim, a musician, was riding a motorcycle when suspects aboard a car shot him in Barangay Banay-Banay II at around 9 p.m. on Oct. 25.

The musician was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

“I did not make that description during the interview with a TV reporter out of respect for the individual’s privacy,” Caisip told the Inquirer in a phone interview on Monday afternoon.
