Myanmar worker in Bangkok fired over offensive edited image

Translate

BANGKOK — A second-hand clothing company in Bangkok has dismissed a Myanmar employee after he allegedly posted an offensive edited image of a high-ranking figure online, drawing widespread criticism on social media.

The controversy emerged amid online debate over national costumes featured in the upcoming Thai series Scarlet Heart Thailand, which has prompted criticism from some Myanmar viewers over its costumes and accessories.

On 26 October, TY Store issued a statement saying it had investigated the incident and confirmed that the employee had violated the company’s ethical standards and workplace regulations.

The company said it had immediately terminated his employment and expressed its deep regret over the incident.
