Game Of Thrones: A Blood Debt Officially Arrives September 12

While many Game of Thrones actors from the HBO series became inseparable from their character roles in the show, Pedro Pascal has long since outgrown his unforgettable run as Oberyn Martell. Introduced during season 4, the charismatic Prince of Dorne immediately became a fan-favorite thanks to his swagger, sharp wit, fearlessness, and the deeply personal vendetta he had against those pesky Lannisters.

His brutal death at the hands of Gregor Clegane, aka The Mountain, remains one of the show's most heartbreaking and shocking moments, and it's hard to believe Pascal only appearead in just seven episodes. At the time, Oberyn was Pascal's breakout role after years of smaller television appearances, but it now feels like the role that added jet fuel to his career. Pascal went on to headline Narcos, become the face behind The Mandalorian, earned widespread acclaim as Joel Miller in The Last of Us, and has made the leap to major theatrical franchises with projects like Gladiator II and Marvel's The Fantastic Four.

And while Pascal has moved on to bigger and better things, he holds a special place in Game of Thrones history, and thanks to a new upcoming release, Oberyn is officially making a return in A Blood Debt on September 12 (via GoTL).

Game of Thrones is officially bringing Oberyn Martell back from the grave in A Blood Debt, a brand-new Legend Trial for Game of Thrones: Legends that runs from September 12 to September 22. The limited-time event will give players a chance to earn Champion Shards for the Legendary Champion, Oberyn Martell, by completing various levels of the trial. It's one of several new and upcoming events slated for September in Legends, including a handful of unique new Summons and Champions.

Champion Shards are one of the main resources used to unlock and strengthen characters in Game of Thrones: Legends. Collecting enough shards for a particular Champion allows players to unlock that character or continue powering them up by increasing their Star Rank, making duplicate shards valuable even after a Champion joins your roster.

Shards can be earned through several activities, including limited-time events, Legend Trials such as A Blood Debt, PvP rewards, and Kingsroad progression events, which release monthly, while others are tied to premium Goldroad rewards. This month, players can earn Oberyn Martell shards through the A Blood Debt Legend Trial and Aemond Targaryen shards through PvP Tier Rewards.
