Coronation Street cast work with real-life gun handler on Jodie's dramatic shooting

Coronation Street aired a dramatic twist for Jodie Ramsey tonight, as her wicked scheme finally unravelled. The villainous character was accidentally shot during a struggle with her sister Shona Platt.
The special episode centred entirely on the Platt family, following yesterday's showdown between Shona and her step-daughter Lily. After successfully getting Shona to move out of the house, Jodie wasted no time cosying up to David.

By showering him with affection, cooking fancy meals and getting dolled up, Jodie tried to convince David that they should be together. When the latter confessed he couldn't stop thinking about their accidental kiss, the villain's dreams seemed to be coming true.
Unfortunately for Jodie, Shona returned home and David revealed it had all been a ruse to get her to admit her scheme. Furious Jodie pulled out her gun, and when Shona tried to wrestle it off her, she ended up getting shot in the stomach.
Though the adrenaline-filled scene left viewers fearing the worst, with erratic Jodie wielding the weapon, the cast worked with a professional gun-handler to ensure no one was in any actual danger.
Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, shared how "exciting" it was to perform with a real (unloaded) gun.
"It's not every day at work that someone brings out a real weapon – with a professional gun handler on set to show you how to use it safely," she said. "When I read the script, I knew it could truly be anyone getting shot…"

According to our Corrie insider: "It's standard practice in the industry to have a gun handler on set when a weapon is used as part of the scenes, even if live ammunition isn't being used as part of the filming."
Will Jodie recover and face the consequences of her actions? Or has her reign of terror come to an abrupt end?
