The DP World PGTI will cover overseas qualifying school expenses of up to ₹3 lakh for its top 30 players from the Order of Merit, it was announced here on Friday.

The support applies to overseas qualifying schools, including those for the DP World Tour, Japan Golf Tour and the Asian Tour. Players who go on to qualify will each receive a further ₹10 lakh.

“At DP World PGTI, we have always been clear that this organisation is about the players,” Amandeep Johl, CEO, DP World PGTI, said in a press conference at Delhi Golf Club.

DP World PGTI President Kapil Dev spoke about improving access to practice facilities. “One thing I have understood about golf is that players need a platform. There are many good courses where our professionals cannot easily go and practise.

“They have to go through the process of getting access and paying fees. If we could open those doors, even for our top 25, 30, 40 or 50 players, and allow them to practise in their own cities, I believe it would help their performances. They need infrastructure not just to compete, but to practise,” Kapil, a former India cricket captain, said.
