Celebrity Traitors' Miranda Hart responds to calls for return of her beloved BBC sitcom

Comedy actor and The Celebrity Traitors star Miranda Hart has teased a return of her iconic sitcom Miranda during an interview on This Morning. The 53-year-old star who was recently eliminated from the popular BBC show was asked if she would consider writing another series of her TV sitcom.
"It's nice that there is some enthusiasm there. It just means everything," she said.
"It seems that the papers every one or two years tells me I'm bringing it back. But that's very much never come from me."

When asked of a possible date that viewers could look forward to, she went on to add: "Urm, I don't know, your guess is as good as mine at this point, whether we do more but..."
Miranda, the self-titled sitcom, first took viewers by storm back in 2009 and fast became a household 'must watch' among all generations, especially as it was unclear if her romance with her neighbour Gary, played by Tom Ellis, was up in the air.
However, ten years ago, the writer and actor called time on the show and bowed out to focus on other projects. But recently, her return to the small screen as a Faithful in The Celebrity Traitors has sparked speculation of a comeback.
At the time, a source told The Sun: "There is a real appetite for more Miranda. The show has had a new generation discovering her, while those who grew up watching the sitcom are desperate to see her back on screen.
"There have been conversations about whether Miranda could return among bosses. A one-off special could be a brilliant way to bring Miranda back, and the possibility of another series is something the BBC would love to explore."
Initially, the show ran for three series along with with two Christmas specials. The season finale aired on New Year's Day in 2015.

However, the cast reunited for a live one-off special titled Such Fun Celebrations four years later to mark the tenth anniversary, which was aired in 2020.
Gary actor Ellis revealed to Radio Times that he would consider returning to the coveted show and spoke about his friendship with Miranda. In a chat with the publication he said: "We still text. I haven't seen her in person for a few years, but you know we FaceTime and text from time to time, and we talk about whether there should be any more Miranda at some point in the future."
He continued: "If we ever end up revisiting Miranda and Gary and where they are in life, I of course will be on board for it. But I'll be on board for it because Miranda's got to a place where she feels she's been able to write something that's worthy of revisiting, which is one thing I've always loved about her."
The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
