Bafana Bafana vs Eritrea: Date, kickoff time, injuries, predicted XI

After edging out Guinea 2-1 in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Bafana Bafana now turn their attention to Eritrea.

Pitso Mosimane needed a late goal to secure all three points against Guinea on Saturday at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

Ime Okon and Samukele Kabini got on the scoresheet for Bafana, with their goals enough to hand South Africa victory and move them to the top of their qualifying group, which also includes Eritrea and Kenya.

Saturday’s match was Mosimane’s first in charge since replacing Hugo Broos as Bafana head coach.

When are Bafana playing Eritrea?

Bafana Bafana will face Eritrea in Egypt on Wednesday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.

Mosimane is expected to make a few changes to his starting XI, particularly after Aubrey Modiba suffered a hamstring injury against Guinea.

Kabini could move into Modiba’s position, while Kamohelo Sebelebele could make way for Thabang Matuludi at right-back.

The coach could retain the central defensive pairing of Olwethu Makhanya and Ime Okon after the duo helped Bafana secure victory in the opening qualifier.

Further forward, Yanela Mbuthuma could lead the attack, with Puso Dithejane potentially starting on the left wing.

A victory over Eritrea would take Bafana to six points from their opening two matches and put them in a strong position in the race to qualify for the 2027 AFCON.
