Jay-Z Will Headline Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show At SoFi Stadium On Feb. 14

Translate

Jay-Z is performing at the Super Bowl. The NFL confirmed Monday night during the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game on ESPN that the 25-time Grammy winner will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The announcement ends a years-long dynamic in which Jay-Z has been one of the most powerful figures shaping the show without ever appearing on it. Roc Nation, his company, has produced the NFL's halftime show in partnership with the league since 2019. In that time the stage has gone to Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Usher, and Kendrick Lamar. Commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the partnership was formed, he told Jay-Z directly that he hoped he would “take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him.” February 14 is apparently when it felt right.

Jay-Z called it “a journey” that began with “Reasonable Doubt” and described the halftime slot as “a dream come true.” The timing is deliberate: 2026 marks 30 years since “Reasonable Doubt” and 25 years since “The Blueprint,” and he has spent much of the year on a run of anniversary concerts. That includes three sold-out nights at Yankee Stadium and two at SoFi on October 23 and 24, where guests included Blue Ivy Carter, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, and DJ Khaled.

What to Expect From the SoFi Halftime Show

SoFi Stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI in February 2022, when Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg led a halftime show widely considered one of the most spectacular in the event's history. Jay-Z performing at the same venue in 2027 invites immediate comparisons, and the guest speculation started the moment the announcement aired. Beyoncé is the name most people will say first. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, given their history at SoFi and their appearances at Jay-Z's recent shows there, are plausible inclusions. The actual lineup will not be confirmed ahead of game day.

Super Bowl LXI and the NFL's Biggest Night of the Season

Super Bowl LXI falls on Valentine's Day, which gives the evening a different texture than the average championship game Sunday. SoFi Stadium holds around 70,000 fans and sits in a media market that will amplify every element of the production. Jay-Z performing his own show, rather than producing someone else's, represents a genuine shift in how his relationship with the NFL's biggest platform gets understood. He has been the architect of the last several halftime shows. On February 14, he is the show.
