Life finds a way! And for those lucky enough to have the PlayStation Plus Premium tier, October is shaping up to be a month you can really sink your teeth into. For those PlayStation Plus members, October 20, 2026, is a date to mark on the calendar for one of the greatest PS1 games is getting a revival. Think Resident Evil crossed with Jurassic Park and you're on the right track. This action adventure game from Capcom deserves some love 26 years later. Let's get into it!
Sequels often go in a different direction than the games that came before. This PlayStation Plus game is no different. Where the first in the franchise will fondly be remembered for its survival horror elements and jump scares, the sequel leans more into the action arcade style and is more fun to play to boot. Dropping the player in many locations, from caves to jungles and everything in between. You'll be pitted against hordes of dinosaurs all looking to make you into lunch.
It's a year after the horrors of Operation: Rescue Dr. Kirk and Dino Crisis 2 throws you head first into the action. You play as Regina and Dylan and must suit up once again, strap a small army's worth of weapons to yourself and take down over 10 species of dinosaur who are hungry for human flesh. Dino Crisis 2 takes its learnings from the first game and improves upon just about everything. It's more of an action game than a horror, a bit like the leap from Resident Evil 4 to Resident Evil 5.
Dino Crisis 2 isn't just a third-person shooter with dinosaurs. It has sections of the game that branch away from the normal. Everything from set action pieces, to on-rail shooting sections and even underwater sequences are included in this absolute banger of a game that is older than most gaming fans reading this. Capcom certainly knew how to produce games packed with action and chaotic fun back in the early 2000s.
Dino Crisis 2 was quite simply a masterpiece from the PS1 era, and it's amazing to see it get a late stage revival like this. It re-released on PC through Steam and GoG earlier this year and now PlayStation Plus members with the Premium tier have the chance to experiment with time gates while filling prehistoric monsters full of lead. A classic from the PlayStation back catalog and one of the best vintage games to release on PlayStation Plus Premium in years. Well worth a playthrough or two.
So when October 20, 2026, rolls around, do you have what it takes to escape a prehistoric nightmare alive? While counting the days for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, you may as well pick up an assault rifle and mow down some meaty Jurassic monsters while you wait. If you're good enough at the game, you may even see a Giganotosaurus take down a T-Rex, which isn't something you see every day! Dino Crisis 2 is available globally for PlayStation Plus Premium members from October 20, 2026.
