MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos and First Lady Liza Marcos on Friday inaugurated the 279-seat Likhang Filipino Theatre along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay, a new hub for artists to showcase their work and support the Philippines’ creative industry.

“With the opening of the Likhang Filipino Theatre, we now have another home for our artists and performers, where they can bring our stories to life and inspire a new generation of Filipino talent,” the Chief Executive said in a social media post yesterday.

“Filipino creativity has always been a source of great pride for our country. What our artists need are more opportunities to develop their talents and share their work with the world,” he added.

Marcos thanked his wife Liza for what he described as her “continued dedication” to Filipino artists and the creative community.

Likhang Filipino was formed last January to promote Filipino craftsmanship, design, innovation and creative enterprise and to link Filipino-made products with local and international markets. Managed by the trade department’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, Likhang Filipino is the country’s year-round showroom, marketplace and incubation hub for locally-made products.

The theatre, which is designed to provide artists a platform for their work without the scale and production demands of a grand theatre, is a venue within the Likhang Filipino Creative Lab. The lab is an “open, shared space for Filipino creatives to learn, create and collaborate through co-working, training and creative facilities,” according to the Presidential Communications Office.
