Resident Evil is on track to become Zach Cregger’s top-grossing movie at the worldwide box office this weekend. It is also edging closer to beating a popular franchise installment worldwide during this weekend. Resident Evil is on track to beat Terminator: Dark Fate worldwide

Terminator: Dark Fate is the sixth installment in the popular sci-fi franchise, Terminator. It was directed by Tim Miller, with Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising their roles. Despite being part of such a popular franchise, it was a huge box office flop worldwide. According to the box office database, Dark Fate collected $261.1 million in its global run. Since the film was made on a $185 million budget, it is a major flop worldwide.

Resident Evil is around $10 million away from surpassing the global haul of Terminator: Dark Fate. Despite being a reboot, the horror film will surpass this popular franchise installment in less than a month, lacking the star power of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

More about the movie

Directed by Zach Cregger, the reboot is tracking to earn more than $300 million at the worldwide box office. It could cross this major milestone only this weekend. The Austin Abrams starrer Resident Evil was released on September 18.
