Egypt grants illegal residents chance to regularize their status

The Egyptian government decided to extend the period for regularizing the status and legalizing the residency of foreigners residing in the country illegally by an additional year.  

Issued by the Prime Minister, this decision aims to continue providing an opportunity to settle legal residency status.

The Official Gazette published—in Issue #37 (Bis) dated September 14, 2026—Prime Minister’s Decision #2807 of 2026 regarding the extension of the period for regularizing the status and legalizing the residency of foreigners residing in the country illegally.

The decision stipulated extending—for an additional year—the period for regularizing the status and legalizing the residency of foreigners residing in the country illegally.

This period was originally set forth in Article II of Prime Minister’s Decision #3326 of 2023 and had previously been extended pursuant to Prime Minister’s Decisions #4313 of 2023, #1050 of 2024, #3044 of 2024, and #3175 of 2025.

The decision is issued pursuant to Law #89 of 1960 regarding the entry, residence, and exit of foreigners in Egypt, following a proposal by Interior Ministry and the approval of the Cabinet.

Under this decision, the period for regularizing the status and legalizing the residency of foreigners residing illegally in Egypt is extended, thereby enabling them to complete the necessary legal procedures to settle their status in accordance with established rules and regulations.
