Apple TV is heading back to Albuquerque sooner than expected to kick off Carol Sturka's Pluribus return.

Even before becoming a streaming sensation and critical success throughout its freshman run in fall 2025, Apple TV renewed Pluribus for season 2 prior to the series premiere last November. Rather than rushing into the sophomore outing, series creator Vince Gilligan noted that the process of bringing Pluribus season 2's story to life would take more time, with star Rhea Seehorn noting back in June 2026 that she had no idea when filming would begin. However, just two months later, Pluribus season 2's production now has a confirmed start month from Gilligan.

Following his first-ever individual Emmy win on September 14 for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for the Pluribus season 1 episode "We Is Us," Vince Gilligan revealed the season 2 filming timeline to Entertainment Tonight. After earlier reports of an intended fall 2026 start window, Gilligan has now confirmed that Pluribus season 2 production is set to begin at the end of October, leaving the cast and crew with just a few more weeks to prepare for their return to the acclaimed Apple TV sci-fi world:

Vince Gilligan: "We got the first two scripts. We won't be starting shooting until about beginning of November, late October. We'll hopefully, within the next week or so, give [the actors] the first two scripts so they'll have a big idea of what the beginning of the season is."

Throughout the past few weeks, Gilligan has shared several key updates about the progress of Pluribus season 2, with writing only having been nearly finished recently. The Breaking Bad creator revealed that writing for season 2 is still "technically" not complete, but the team still has several weeks to work on the remaining scripts before the cameras officially start rolling.

With production set to kick into full stride by early November, shooting is expected to last throughout the first half of 2027 if following the timeline for Pluribus season 1, which reportedly filmed from February until September 2024 prior to its November 2025 launch. If Pluribus season 2 wraps filming before June, then there is still a slight possibility it will hit Apple TV before the end of 2027, though an early 2028 release may be more likely.

Currently, the story and casting details for the sophomore season are largely under wraps. Alongside Carol Sturka actor Rhea Seehorn, who also took home her first Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus season 1 on Monday night, the expected returning Pluribus cast members for season 2 include Karolina Wydra as Zosia and Carlos-Manuel Vesga as Manousos Oviedo.

Storywise, Pluribus season 1 ended with Manousos finally arriving at Carol's home in Albuquerque after traveling from Paraguay, revealing his plan to destroy the Others. After Zosia informs Carol that the Others have successfully used a customized virus on an immune teenager, intending to soon do the same with Carol, she has an atom bomb brought to her home and agrees to help Manousos.

With Vince Gilligan now ready to hand off the scripts for the first two episodes of Pluribus season 2 to the cast, the unveiling of the season 1 finale's fallout for Carol, Zosia, and Manousos is one step closer.
