Emmerdale's Kim finally discovers Thea secret – as a big decision remains

Kim Tate has finally learned that DS Thea Ramsden is actually her long-lost daughter. Yesterday's Emmerdale episode saw a confrontation between Kim and Thea which led to Kim stabbing her daughter after suspecting that she was behind baby Tate's kidnapping.
However, this turns out to not be the case, and Kim rushes Thea to hospital for urgent treatment. Tonight's (29 October) episode saw the pieces finally come together as Kim realised that Thea was the daughter she'd given up for adoption many years ago.

After bringing her in, the nurse informed Kim that things were looking good for Thea as they'd managed to stop the bleeding, much to her relief.
When Kim later went in to check on her, she took a look at Thea's ID badge and made the connection between her and her estranged daughter.
After Thea woke up, Kim questioned her on how long she was planning to hold on to her secret, before calling her by her full name, Anthea.
Kim questioned her about why she didn't attempt to contact her. Thea then responded that she wanted to "punish" her mother for "selling her", which she thought was happening to baby Tate.
After learning that Joe was responsible for the kidnapping, Thea expressed remorse for her actions, which led Kim to confess the truth of her adoption.
She revealed that she was facing prison at the time, so she made a deal with a "corrupt superintendent" to give Thea up for adoption.
Kim said she was assured that Thea would be given to a good home, but she revealed that wasn't the case as she'd suffered years of abuse at the hands of her adoptive father.

As the two began to open up, the police arrived to receive a statement from Thea, but she declined to give them one, instead saying she needed more time to work out what to do next.
According to Thea's actor, Chelsea Edge, this moment has created a lot of confusion for Thea, who'd initially thought she'd had her mum worked out.
"I think having now met her, she’s quite conflicted because it’s hard to ignore the fact that Kim is a human being, and her entire life she’s painted Kim as this villain in her narrative," she told Inside Soap.
"Coming face to face with the person, that unravels a little bit for her. But still, she’s harboured this grudge for 27 years."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
