Frustrated Anele Mdoda: ‘No water for 7 days’

Translate

Anele Mdoda Mgudlwa has revealed that her residential home has suffered a week-long water outage.

The radio and TV personality is one of thousands of Johannesburg residents who are experiencing dry taps for various reasons.

ANELE MDODA LAMENTS WATER OUTAGE

Like many Johannesburg residents, Anele Mdoda Mgudlwa has lamented a severe water outage in her residential area.

The 42-year-old lives in an upmarket estate with her husband, Bonelela “Buzza” Mgudlwa, and their children.

She shared on Instagram: “No water for 7 days…Guys, my estate is going through it. The water problems had excavators out, and then the excavator was stuck. Then they had to send a TLB to fetch it, then the excavator snapped a power cable, so then some had no power. Then the same excavator snapped the fibre cable, so we are currently in 1902.

She added, “Come fetch us”.

During her breakfast show on 947, a frustrated Anele revealed her household were using the water from their swimming pool to flush their toilets.

In the comment section of her IG post, many of Anele’s followers, including celebrities, shared her frustrations.

Actor Moshe Ndiki commented, “I see others bathing at the gym. Can I ask for someone’s membership card or be a guest? They are at the gym, and you bath and go fast”

Singer Shekinah added: “This is my story”

ONGOING CRISIS

Johannesburg residents like Anele Mdoda are facing a severe, ongoing water crisis, with many areas experiencing shortages for days on end.

The water crisis has been blamed on ageing infrastructure, which has led to leaks, equipment failures, and a high demand. According to reports,  Johannesburg is losing roughly a third of its water through leaks and other losses.

Last month, President Cyril Ramaphosa launched a National Water Action Plan, calling for more infrastructure investment, ring-fencing water revenue, private-sector involvement and stronger accountability from municipalities.
