Melaka polls: PH manifesto to focus on living costs, housing and jobs

Translate

MELAKA: Cost of living, affordable housing and employment opportunities are among the key issues Pakatan Harapan is highlighting in its campaign for the Melaka election.

Melaka PH chairman Adly Zahari said feedback from residents showed that basic needs, including affordable housing, access to welfare assistance and jobs offering fair wages, remained among their main concerns.

He said residents had also raised the issue of water bills, while small traders were struggling with rental costs and limited capital to sustain their businesses.

"On the second day after nomination, our candidates and party machinery continued engaging with residents to understand their needs and concerns.

"The feedback we received highlighted concerns over water bills, difficulties in owning homes, access to welfare assistance and employment opportunities with fair wages.

"Small traders, meanwhile, are facing rental pressures and capital constraints in running their businesses," he said at a daily press conference at the Melaka PH main operations room here today.

Also present was Melaka DAP chairman Khoo Poay Tiong.

Adly, who is also the Bukit Katil candidate, said PH would unveil its manifesto in the coming days, outlining proposals on affordable housing, higher incomes, support for small entrepreneurs, student welfare and more accessible and transparent assistance.

He said the manifesto would spell out the coalition's commitments for voters to scrutinise.

"We want a mandate built on clear offers and a willingness to be held accountable," he said.

Adly said PH would continue its campaign through face-to-face engagements and discussions on issues affecting residents' daily lives.

PH is fielding 24 candidates from its three component parties in the election, comprising 10 from PKR, seven from DAP and seven from Amanah.
